It’s been awhile since I’ve last written. Towards the end of 2015, I received warnings from my doctor that I was on the road to diabetes if I didn’t make changes to my lifestyle. I decided I didn’t want to follow my mother’s path and set out to seek guidance. I’m very grateful to have met Rosie, a wonderful wellness/yoga coach and enlisted her help to set intentions for a healthier, happier me. I know I’m resistant to drastic changes, but she taught me to learn to be more self-aware and mindful of my current state. I keep a food journal on Evernote. I indulge often, but I’ve learned that it’s okay. 🙂 I accept and embrace that I’m an indulgent foodie who needs to find that balance and equilibrium by listening to the body more often.
I learned that Vata is my dominant dosha. Through my sluggish and pudgy ways, I somehow hold an athlete within myself. I’ve been told that I have that structure and athletic sense in yoga. I’m very fortunate to have both Rosie and Jill as my yoga instructors. I survived a 3- week cleanse and I just signed up for the Honolulu 2016 marathon. I know this is still the very beginning. I look forward to this new found heightened awareness.
